Bu etkilerin karşılaştırmalı analizi sonucunda komüniteryen çokkültürlülüğün modernleşme süreciyle modern ulus-devlete yerini bırakmasıyla, giyimin bireylerin kimliklerinin dışavurumunda ve toplumsal imgelemede daha az etkili hale geldiği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.; This research analyzed how dress codes in the Ottoman millet (religious community) system built on communitarian multiculturalism to make the differences between religious communities visible and perpetual were transformed through modernization. In other words, this system was examined in the context of the multiculturalism paradigm. Then the consequences of the Ottoman-Turkish modernization, including the establishment of the Republic of Turkey envisaging citizens' equality, were elaborated. Therefore, this research is an original one when the lack of comparisons between the Ottoman millet system and the Turkish nation-state in the axis of dressing, identity, multiculturalism and nationalism taken into consideration. The study, which focuses on the diversity of clothing in the Ottoman Empire, which ruled vast geography and many communities, was limited to Istanbul, the capital of the Empire. In this context, the Orthodox, Armenian and Jewish millets, that had dense populations in Istanbul, as well as the Muslims, who were the dominant element of the Empire, were examined. The social change had gained momentum with the modernization movement that started in the 18th century during Selim III and Mahmut II's reigns. In that context, the effect of modernization on clothing was striking. For this reason, most of the images exemplifying the traditional clothing of the religious communities studied were selected from the 18th and 19th centuries. The universalization of clothing via modernization in Turkey made the dress more accessible to the masses. This also affected the identity of the individual in Ottoman and Turkish societies dramatically. As a result of the comparative analysis of these effects, it was concluded that the replacement of communitarian multiculturalism with the modern nation-state via the modernization process made clothing less effective in the expression of individuals' identities and social imagination.

Son olarak firmaların finansal anlamda sıkıntı yaşadıklarını belirtmiş, verilen teşviklerin markalaşma ve tasarım alanlarında ilerlemek için yeterli olmadığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.; Fashion and design is an area where global leaders such as the USA, Europe and China have an impact on the market. Turkey, a developing country, among these countries, has a say in the ready-made clothing and textile sector. It is thought that Turkey can reach the level of developed countries in terms of branding and fashion. This study will attempt to shed light on the situation regarding the textile sector in a local region, Diyarbakır. The aims of the study are to learn the status of fashion and design activities in the ready-made clothing sector in Diyarbakır, to identify existing problems and to explore potential dynamics. In addition, the status of branding, which adds significant value to ready-made clothing companies, and the adequacy of branding incentives were evaluated together with the participants. In this context, an interview analysis was conducted with the owners of nine branded companies operating in the ready-made clothing sector in Diyarbakır. In addition to the interview analysis, two interviews were conducted to evaluate the macro situation of Diyarbakır. As a result of the interview analysis, it was determined that there was a tendency among the participants towards branding. It was determined that the most important driver behind this trend was to secure a permanent and prominent place in the market and to increase the professionalism institutionally. Another result reached from the analysis is that many companies in Diyarbakır do not have designers in the field of fashion and design activities. The reason for this, in short, is that designers do not prefer to come to Diyarbakır from other provinces and that there is not sufficient economic and technical infrastructure and ground. In the interviews, the importance of trained human resources was highlighted, and participants also mentioned that the situation in this area is improving day by day. Finally, it was stated that the companies were experiencing financial difficulties, and it was concluded that the incentives provided were not sufficient to make real progress in the fields of branding and design.

In addition to meeting physiological and psychological needs, clothing also gains meaning as a tool that reflects many aspects of the economic situation, social position, profession and so on. The clothes that reflect the professional group the best are undoubtedly uniforms. Uniforms are used to provide unity and solidarity in the costumes and clothes of people who do the same job, to set a standard of clothing, to support the physical integrity and skills of the person depending on the content of the profession when necessary. In parallel with the historical chronology, first of all, the concepts related to fire brigade were examined. Afterwards, the clothing and intervention methods worn during the Tulumbacılar period, which could be described as the first firefighting intervention group in the Ottoman Empire, the pre-Republican Szechenyi Pasha and the military firefighting period clothing and equipment, and the uniformization process of today’s Istanbul firefighting clothing. Nowadays, firefighting uniforms protect the intervener, especially with the help of technology, from dangers such as flame, high temperature and support it to move comfortably. The clothes of the jumpsuits, the first organized fire response organization in Istanbul, are far from an institutional uniform appearance and do not protect the respondent from the fire hazard. In the process, under the leadership of Szechenyi Pasha, this organization was institutionalized under discipline and started to use more protective uniforms. Although there are minor changes in this organizational tradition and uniforms, it is possible to say that it continued until the 1990s. Since the 1990s, with the development of technology, modern uniforms made of protective and fireproof fabrics were produced and used. Although these uniforms are useful and protective compared to previous periods, they are still non-combustible, breathing and comfortable movement of the body, wearing comfortable and shorter time, adjusting the moisture balance between the body and uniform, etc. It is possible to say that research should be continued in terms of its elements.

Geçmişin modalarının sosyolojik, ekonomik ve toplumsal temelleri bugününkünden farklı olabilmekle beraber benzer estetik unsurlar giysilerde çağına uygun yorumlarla yer alabilmektedir.; The Queen Victorian Period, which lasted for 64 years in the 19th century, was an important development in England's economic and technical aspects. However, it is expressed socially, especially as a period when women are trying to be shaped by very compelling and restrictive rules. Women did not have a place in social life, but had to control their bodies in accordance with the rules of the period with various clothes and patterns of behavior. She tried to look slimmer by using a corset to have a feminine accent, she emphasized the hip and chest, she gave the appearance of her health by keeping the spine upright and while doing all this, she had to display a fancy and flashy image. The industrial revolution, which gained momentum during the Queen Victoria period, also transformed the textile sector; this transformation also affected the women's fashion of the period. In addition to the period clothing, the queen's wedding dress and the mourning clothes she wore after the death of her husband inspired both the clothing fashion of that time and today. Clothing fashion gains an original and creative quality as a result of interpretation of these inspirations with the spirit of the age, inspired by previous periods. In this context, it is possible to observe the reflections of the Victorian Period in both women's fashion and ready-to-wear collections. Although the sociological, economic and social foundations of the fashions of the past may differ from those of today, similar aesthetic elements can be found in clothes with interpretations appropriate for the age.
