Çalışma sonucunda yetiştirme ortamı derinliği ile yüzeysel akış miktarı arasında ters bir orantı tespit edilmiş, bu durum bitki gelişimine de olumlu yönde etki etmiştir.; Due to cultural and economic changes in the world today, the tendency towards cities has increased and this caused higher urbanization rate. Due to urbanization, large amounts of impermeable surfaces emerge in the physical environment, which causes an increase in runoff by disruption of the natural cycle of water. In this context, green roof systems are considered as an important component in green infrastructure solutions, which developed for water management in urbanized areas. Determining the runoff characteristics of green roof systems is important for future green infrastructure works. Therefore, influence of green roof systems on runoff management have been evaluated within the scope of the study. In this context, water retention and runoff properties of two different substrate mixtures at three different depths (4, 7 and 10 cm) were evaluated. A commercial substrate (crushed bricks 45 %, pumice 45 % and organic matter 10 %) and a mixture of 90 % coarse grained pumice (10-20 mm) and 10% domestic waste compost were used during the study. Four native plant species (Achillea millefolium, Armeria maritima, Sedum acre and Sedum album) were planted on experimental setup. As a result of this study that was conducted in open field conditions over a period of 27 weeks, water retention and runoff characteristics of green roof systems were evaluated along with plant growth levels in Istanbul climate. It was concluded that there was a reverse relationship between substrate depth and runoff, which had a positive effect on the plant growth.

This intellectual dimension, which has become transparent and has no clear boundaries, is perceived more clearly with the differentiation of physical space qualities, especially in fantastic film spaces. When the limitlessness of the perceptual space is scanned and evaluated in the mind with a rational eye, the imaginary spaces in such films become tangible. As there are many different disciplines that contribute to the visual design perception of these fictional spaces created in fantastic films, the music of the film (Soundtrack) is also in an indisputable point. This study, inspired by the works on the visual and auditory transformations between music and architecture, assumes that the specific elements and arrangement principles that make up the space and music can be compatible with the soundtrack that supports it in the visual impact and auditory dimension. The investigation of this coherence was concluded with a method developed to analyze the formal relationship between music and space in the light of the data obtained by qualitative research methods, and a simultaneous comparison of the space and music in the selected scenes of the movie “Edward Scissorhands”, directed by Tim Burton.

Universal design and inclusive education aroused as paradigms based on egalitarianism in the twentieth century. The countries are responsible to update the approaches on their own education policy including inclusive education. Updates on education policy become a problem to articulate spatial requirements of inclusive schools according to them. In this sense, universal design gives an opportunity to find effective and practical spatial solutions for problems of inclusive education environment through creating an interdisciplinary ground in design process. The aim of the study is to find out the effects of the inclusive educational policy of Turkey on the design of inclusive school environments under the umbrella of both universal design and inclusive education. In this scope, the laws, regulations, legislations, regarding the inclusive education in Turkey within the international discourse are reviewed. SERÇEV (Children with Cerebral Palsy Association) inclusive schools, which are Gökkuşağı Primary School and SERÇEV Accessible Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, are examined in the scope of universal design. These inclusive schools are chosen as the case studies to examine the spatial reflection of the current policies in inclusive school environment. The methodology of the study includes commentary of on-site observations on spatial requirements regarding universal design approach and interviews from site visits. The study contributes to determine the design approaches of inclusive school environment in the case of SERÇEV inclusive schools in Turkey.
