Ancak yakın yerleşmeler dikkate alındığında, bu mozaiklerin 5. yüzyıla ait oldukları söylenebilir.; The three aisled church located in the acropolis of Rhodiapolis Ancient City (Kumluca, Antalya) represents the early classical basilica design type with the narthex in the west, the apse in the east and the adjoining rooms. Mosaics consisting of geometric patterns of opus tessellatum technique were unearthed in the narthex, nave, and side aisles, as well as prothesis sections of the church, in the excavations that started in 2007. All the mosaics are made of marble, limestone, and terracotta material with clearly cut cub-shaped polychrome tesserae. The common feature of the panel pattern is that the geometric patterns created using yellow, red, pink, burgundy, and blue colors on a white background are treated by shading to create a three-dimensional effect, and they are limited to black or nearly black-gray tesserae. Borders were not used in the northern aisle consisting of ten panels with different geometric patterns, and in the southern aisle consisting of a single continuous panel. Panels in prothesis and nave are arranged in a closed form using borders. As for narthex, the place was divided into three main panels, and the border was used only on the north panel. Moreover, the quality of the craftsmanship on the main patterns varies according to the places. These differences refer to the different workshops in the pavement mosaics of the church spaces. Close analogues of patterns selected from the repertoire of Late Antiquity used in the mosaics of the Rhodiapolis Church are usually seen in the mosaics dated to the 5th and early 6th centuries. However, it can be deduced that, considering the nearby settlements these mosaics belong to the 5th century.

The effectiveness of six different reburial systems was investigated by means of a monitoring station installed on a part of approximately 110 square meters of mosaic, defined as basilica thermarum in the Southern Baths of the ancient city of Perge. The scope of the study covers the monitoring of six different reburial systems consisting of only soil filling on the tessellatum layer; only sand filling on the tessellatum layer; sand filling on geotextile laid on the tessellatum surface; sand and gravel, respectively on geotextile laid on the tessellatum surface; geotextile and pozzolana on the tessellatum surface, and ,finally, approximately 5 cm sand, geotextile, and 15 cm sand on the tessellatum surface. Key parameters, which lead to deterioration such as moisture content in these systems, system response to the precipitation, temperature change, acidity, salt content, and plant formation were evaluated comparatively. In these systems, Decagon 10HS soil moisture sensor for moisture measurements and Apogee ST100 soil temperature sensor for temperature measurements were employed. Atmospheric humidity, atmospheric temperature and precipitation data were collected with a Davis (R) Vantage Vue (TM) Wireless Weather Station set. Data of salt content, acidity and elemental composition were obtained through conductivity analysis, pH tests, X-ray fluorescence (PED-XRF) analysis. Having reached under the reburial system, species analysis of plants that cause mosaic deterioration was realized, and the coverage degree of those plants was determined according to the Braun-Blanquet cover-abundance scale. This research, in which data for the years 2017-2018 were evaluated, showed that each monitored reburial system had certain advantages and disadvantages according to the above-mentioned parameters.; Perge antik kenti, Güney Hamam’daki basilica thermarum olarak tanımlanan mekân mozaiğinin yaklaşık 110 metrekarelik bir bölümü üzerinde kurulan bir izleme istasyonuyla altı farklı tekrar gömme sisteminin etkinliği araştırılmıştır.

Çalışmanın ilk aşaması olan "belgeleme ve onarım", 2013 kazı sezonunda tamamlanmıştır.; The basilica-planned church, situated in the ancient city of Perinthos-Herakleia (modern Kalekapı) is decorated with a mosaic floor dated to the end of 5th – beginning of 6th c. AD. The first excavation and conservation works at the church were carried out in 1992-1993. These works were put on hold during the expropriation process of the area for public purposes and reinitiated in 2007. The northern and southern naves of the basilica as well as the northern wing of the atrium, and inner and outer narthex are decorated with opus tessellatum mosaics; naos and middle part of the atrium are paved with marble slabs. The annex, to the southwest of the basilica which was used as a chapel in later periods is paved with opus sectile and marble slabs. The conservation of these pavements was planned in three phases: 1) “Documentation and Conservation”, 2) “Preparation for Display” and 3) “Periodical Maintenance”. Phase 1 (Documentation and Conservation) has been completed in 2013.
