Sonuç olarak İstanbul’da toplumsal ve kültürel yaşamın göstergesi olan konutun farklı yaklaşım, üretim biçimlerine rağmen, benzer özellikler ve ticari kaygılarla şekillenen, ayrıcalıklı ve ayrışmayı hissettiren, ekonomik sınıflar arasında kopukluğu ortaya çıkaran yaşam alanlarının belirgin bir şekilde ortaya çıktığı tespit edilmiştir.; Urban space is in a continuous transformation depending on the current day of the urban phenomenon and the dynamics of society. Socio-cultural, economic and political changes play an important role in the transformation and shaping of the urban space. In this development process of the urban space, the architectural product that gives meaning to the urban space is the residence. Therefore, one of the big cities affected by this process and the reflections of change is Istanbul. In Istanbul, factors such as rural-urban migration, which increased rapidly in the 1950s, and later unplanned housing, enabled urban transformation that could not be controlled. It has been the most important actor of the relationship established with housing, urban and public spaces, and has constantly renewed itself under the influence of its dynamics. Especially in the 1980s, zoning regulations and housing demand led to an increase in housing production. Migration from the village to the city has revealed the distinction of different economic classes, high rent, competition in the housing market, class and spatial segregation. In this way, it was inevitable that new living areas with high security and protection were to be formed. The development in residential areas that spread around the city periphery has grown in the form of demolition-building or vertical living spaces in city centers. In this sense, this change and development has turned into living spaces that diverge from the city center within the framework of economic possibilities and move the individual away from the social environment. Therefore, the common spaces created by an introverted society or social conditions have taken shape as a new life center. Istanbul clearly shows the spatial segregation with the housing projects that ignore the high-income socio-cultural development. In this sense, the aim of this study is to examine the urban and spatial change of privileged residences in the city center of Istanbul. In this context, urbanization, the housing sector, the impact of socio-cultural and economic changes on the housing sector, urban and extra-urban residential areas and the change of urban space within the framework of social life were discussed. Especially the reasons affecting the formation process of residential areas developing outside the city center and the settlements of these areas in Istanbul were examined through examples. As a result, it has been determined that despite the different approaches and modes of production of the residence, which is an indicator of social and cultural life in Istanbul, the living areas that are shaped by similar characteristics and commercial concerns, that make you feel privileged and segregation, reveal the disconnection between economic classes.

Araştırma sonucunda, biyomimetrik tasarım anlayışında, doğadaki formlardan esinlenilerek yeni ve özgün formlar oluşturulabildiği ve bu yaklaşımının tasarım eğitimine fayda sağladığı tespit edilmiştir.; Design is inspired by many different areas in the form creation process. Biomimicry, one of these areas, combines nature and design. In some nature-inspired works, itwas seen natural forms were copied and directly transferred to the final design. Theproducts that emerge with this approach are imitations of nature. Besides, theconcept of design inspired by nature is one of the creative approaches used in designeducation. Designing by abstracting forms in nature is a beneficial practice ineducation. In this context, designs inspired by nature were investigated throughexamples, and the reflections of the approach in architectural design education wereexamined. The research is qualitative, and the data were collected by databasescanning method. As a result of the study, it was determined that the biomimicryapproach benefited by improving the limits of architectural design education anddeveloped a realistic and creative perspective in students.

Araştırma kapsamında birinci bölümde, Erken Cumhuriyet Dönemi öncesinde yaşanan politik gelişmeler ve ulusal kimlik anlayışı, ikinci bölümde Erken Cumhuriyet Dönemi’ndeki Birinci Ulusal Mimarlık Akımı etkisiyle Ankara’da yapılan kamu yapıları, üçüncü bölümde ise İkinci Ulusal Mimarlık Akımı etkisiyle Ankara’da yapımı gerçekleşen kamu yapıları incelenmiştir.; After the proclamation of the Republic, studies were initiated for Ankara to be accepted as the capital and to build the newly established regime in accordance with a modern city identity. In this process, it is planned to create spatially modern structures of Ankara and set an example for other cities in the country with the effect of national identity. During the period from the proclamation of the Republic to the 1950s, Ankara has felt the effects of modernization and Westernization as the representative of the national state. In two separate periods, considering the factors of "nation state” and "national architecture”, architectural structures were built to set an example for other cities after Ankara. The aim of the study is to examine the search for local identity in the field of architecture of public buildings in Ankara in the Early Republican Period. Although there are many studies on this subject in the literature, this study was carried out because there was a gap in public structures in Ankara. The study is based on literature review. In the first stage, political developments and local identity understanding before the Early Republican Period; in the second stage, public buildings built in Ankara with the effect of the First National Architecture Movement in the Early Republican Period; in the third stage, public buildings constructed in Ankara with the effect of the Second National Architecture Movement were examined within the scope of the research.

The relation of high structures with the urban texture: examples of London and Paris
Ölgen, Burcu; Aytıs, Saadet
The positioning of high structures creates important effects on the city silhouette; even sometimes it is created by them. This silhouette could be in close relationship with the historical regions as well as developing outside the city. It was observed that tall buildings developed in two different ways in London and Paris. This study aims to examine the urban texture of tall building areas in two cities in terms of architectural and urban design aspects. The historical development of London and Paris, and the role of tall buildings in this process were compared. High buildings in London developed alongside with the historical texture, while in Paris they located in an especially reserved area outside the city. These different situations have developed with the city dwellers’ lifestyles, as well as created spatially different effects on them. In this context, the relationship of tall buildings with urban fabric is examined, and an example of a high building selected from each city is discussed. These examples are The Leadenhall from London and Tour First from Paris. It was concluded that the locations of the high buildings have an important role in the urban texture, and it also depends on politics to make decisions.
