Existing indoor navigation systems face with many different technical and usability problems. In this paper we present a Near Field Communication (NFC) based indoor navigation system called NFC Internal in order to eliminate the current indoor navigation problems. NFC Internal enables an easy data transfer for indoor navigation systems just by touching tags spread over a building or a complex. The proposed system has several benefits and has potential to increase the usability of these systems. We discuss the system requirements and explain the phases of NFC Internal through use cases.

Dönmez, Barış; Miramirkhani, Farshad (IEEE, 2021-11-27)This paper focuses on channel modeling and characterization of indoor visible light communication (VLC)-based medical body sensor networks (MBSNs) which establish links between light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and MBSNs nodes ... -
Optimizing indoor localization accuracy with neural network performance metrics and software-defined IEEE 802.11az Wi-Fi set-up
Kouhalvandi, Lida; Aygün, Sercan; Matekovits, Ladislau; Miramirkhani, Farshad (IEEE, 2023-10-28)Accurately classifying regions based on Wi-Fi signals can be a difficult task, especially when considering different frequency values. In this study, we aimed to improve the accuracy of indoor localization by developing a ... -
Channel modelling for indoor visible light communications
Miramirkhani, Farshad; Uysal, Murat (Royal Society Publishing, 2020-04-17)Visible light communication (VLC) allows the dual use of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) for wireless communication purposes in addition to their primary purpose of illumination. As in any other communication system, realistic ...
