dc.description.abstractBu çalışma Türk gazetelerinde Suriyeli mülteci kadın temsillerini konu edinmektedir. Toplumsal cinsiyet ve etnisite faktörlerinin kesişmesini göz önünde bulundurarak çalışma, gazetelerdeki Suriyeli kadın temsilleri "çaresizlik" ve "edilgenlik" temaları etrafında stereotipik ve hegemonik kadın ve mülteci temsillerini yeniden mi üretiyor, yoksa çeşitli temalar etrafında mülteci kadınların koşullarını, durumlarını ve hikayelerini farklı yeni biçimlerde anlatarak konvansiyonel temsillere karşı mı çıkıyor sorularına cevap aramaktadır. Çalışmada kullanılan örneklem, 2011 ve 2015 yılları arasında beş Türk gazetesinde yayınlanmış 1272 Suriyeli mülteci fotoğrafından oluşmaktadır. Çalışma özellikle mülteci kadınların hangi temalar etrafında temsil edildiği ve hangi temsil pratiklerinin kullanımıyla ne tür anlamlarla ilişkilendirildikleri konularına vurgu yapmaktadır.en_US
dc.description.abstractThis paper is concerned about the representation of Syrian refugee women in Turkish newspapers. Considering the intersection of gender and ethnicity, the paper explores whether the representations of Syrian refugee women reproduce stereotypical and hegemonic representations of women and refugees around the themes of helplessness and passivism, or challenge the conventional ways of representing refugee women by producing heterogeneous images around different themes which reflect the conditions, situations and stories of women refugees in new ways. The paper uses a corpus of 1272 Syrian refugee photographs published in five national newspapers between the years 2011 and 2015. The paper particularly focuses on around which themes Syrian refugee women are represented and which meanings are produced about them through the use of which representational practices.en_US
