(İstanbul Üniversitesi Yayınevi, 2022-06-22) Bülbül, Seçil; İşiaçık, Serin; Aytaç, Serpil
Psychological safety can predict many positive individual and organizational outcomes at work, and previous research addressed how psychological safety contributes to positive work attitudes and behaviors. In Turkey, there is quite an amount of research showing the contributing role of psychological safety perception on employees' positive performance behaviors and organizational effectiveness and innovativeness. However, previous research in Turkey does not adequately show the reliability and validity of the psychological safety scale, which was developed by Edmondson (1999). Based on the suggested requirement this study aimed to investigate the psychological safety perceptions of individuals who work in various sectors in Turkey. The adapted version of the psychological safety scale was used to gain evidence for the reliability and validity of the instrument in Turkey. In total, 585 individuals working in various industries and from various occupational groups participated in the research. Both exploratory factor analysis and the confirmatory factor analysis showed that Turkish adapted version of the psychological safety scale was valid and reliable.

Developing andsSustaining outcomes assessment in english as a foreign language programs
(Springer International Publishing AG, 2017) Staub, Donald Francis
Educational organizations are charged with one critical task: effectively and efficiently ensuring student learning. Traditionally, the determining factor for whether educational institutions had imparted knowledge on their students was simply to count the number of graduates. English as a Foreign Language (EFL) programs have followed this tradition, equating quality with numbers of successful program completers. Over the past two decades, the so-called accountability movement has put increasing pressure on schools to demonstrate quality by evidencing student learning through the assessment of learning outcomes. EFL programs are increasingly being asked to develop and implement learning outcomes assessment programs. To do so, however, can be arduous, and, if not approached thoughtfully, can lead to failure. This chapter explores the principles and practices that are generally believed to be must-haves for successful outcomes assessment programs. This is followed by a discussion of common pitfalls that lead to failure of such initiatives. Finally, the chapter proposes that EFL program leaders who are embarking upon an outcomes assessment process consider the Distributed Leadership model as a means for increasing the probability of success and sustainability of their outcomes assessment initiative.

Organizations are expected to devise adroit actions in the face of prevailing complexity in business environment. Under the circumstances of intensive competition in global markets, dealing with the concept of innovation entails to embrace a more profound coverage than generally ascribed. Innovation is about building capabilities that will eventually be materialized into novel ways of doing things. The very essence of innovation lies in its ability to carry a work process to a superior level of value generation. Therefore, leaders (leadership) are supposed to be reengineered as enablers who function as catalyst for the transformation of organizations into ecologies of innovation where building capabilities and creation of knowledge are continuous endeavors. This conceptual paper aims to tap into the heart of this matter and deal with the relationship between becoming innovative and the appropriate context of leadership that should be instilled in contemporary organizations.
