Kentsel alanlardaki ilkokul bahçelerinin tasarımları üzerine araştırmalar

Abstract

Çocuklar eğitim öğretim hayatlarına başladıklarında zamanlarının önemli bir bölümünü okulda geçirmektedirler. Okullardaki eğitimin yalnızca sınıftaki derslerle kalmaması, dış mekânda da görüp öğrenmeleri çocukların gelişimleri açısından önemlidir. Tezin araştırma konusu olan ilkokul öğrencilerinin yaş aralığı (5-9) dikkate alındığında oyun önemli bir yere sahiptir. Bu yaş aralığındaki çocukların keşif duyguları, merak ve öğrenme istekleri çok yüksektir. Bu sebeple çocukların isteklerini karşılayabilecek okul bahçelerine ihtiyaçları vardır. İstanbul gibi büyük şehirlerde öğrenim gören öğrencilerin büyük bir kısmı yoğun nüfus ve hızlı kentleşme içerisinde sıkışmış, dar ve yetersiz ilkokul bahçelerinde eğitim almaktadır. Alan olarak küçük ve yetersiz kabul edebileceğimiz okullarda öğrenim gören öğrencilerin durumları ve bu alanların planlanarak öğrencilere ne gibi faydaları olacağı konusu bu tezin amacını oluşturmaktadır. Konu ile ilgili öncelikle literatür araştırması yapılmıştır. Dünyada yapılan çalışmalar ve uygulamalar incelenmiş, kalabalık şehirlerdeki imkanlar doğrultusunda “Nasıl bir okul bahçesi tasarlanabilir?” sorusunun cevabı aranmıştır. Seçilen okulda öğrenciler, öğretmenler ve veliler ile anket yapılmış, sonuçları değerlendirilerek kentsel alanlardaki ilkokul bahçelerinin tasarım ilkeleri konusunda çeşitli öneriler geliştirilmiştir.

Children spend a significant part of their time at school when theystart their education life.It is important for the development of children that the education in schools is not limited to the lessons in the classroom, but that they see and learn outdoors. Considering the age range (6-9) of primary school students, which is the research subject of the thesis, the game has an important place. Children in this age range have a high sense of discovery, curiosity and desire to learn. Therefore, children need school gardens that can meet their demands. Primary school gardens in areas that we will consider as congested in this dense population and rapid urbanization for students living in cities such as Istanbul metropolis may be insufficient in terms of area sizes, playgrounds and necessary urban equipment. The purpose of this thesis is the situation of the students studying in schools that we can consider as small and inadequate in terms of area, and the ability of these areas to be planned and addressed to both students and the people of the surrounding area. First of all, literature research was conducted on the subject. Studies and practices in the world were examined, and in line with the possibilities in crowded cities, "How can a school garden be designed?" The answer to the question has been sought. A survey was conducted with students, teachers and the local people in the selected school, and various suggestions were developed on the design principles of primary school gardens in urban areas by evaluating the results.
