Contributions of mindful parenting and parent–child relationships to children’s executive function: a structural equation model
(Springer, 2026-04-19) Acar, İbrahim Hakkı; Hamamcı, Beyza; Bostancı, Selen
Mindful parenting supports within-family functioning, including parent–child relationships, which may promote positive child outcomes. In the present study, we examined the contributions of mindful parenting and parent–child relationships (positive and negative aspects) to children’s executive function. The study sample consisted of 354 children (192 girls) between 31 and 101 months (M = 66.65, SD = 15.88) and their parents from relatively low socioeconomic backgrounds. Parents reported mindful parenting, parent–child relationships, and children’s executive function. Findings from the structural equation model indicated that higher levels of mindful parenting and positive parent–child relationships were associated with higher levels of children’s executive function. In contrast, a negative parent–child relationship was related to lower levels of executive function. Additionally, mindful parenting was indirectly related to children’s executive function through the parent–child relationship. Findings from the current study underlined the importance of mindful parenting for both parent–child relationships and children’s executive function. In detail, parents who are better at being present with their children and utilizing mindful discipline may exhibit more warmth and supportive relationships with their children. Consequently, positive relationships could lead children to display higher cognitive abilities, including executive function.

A deployment-oriented privacy-preserving CTI framework: integrating PIR, federated learning, differential privacy, and practical hardenings
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2026) Çamalan, Emre; Çeliktaş, Barış
Threat Intelligence Platforms (TIPs) enable organizations to share indicators of compromise (IoCs), yet the operational CTI lifecycle exposes multiple, largely independent privacy surfaces: query content and access-pattern leakage during IoC lookup, gradient and membership inference risks during collaborative model training, and residual metadata side-channels in network traffic. Existing work addresses these surfaces in isolation; no prior framework orchestrates their joint mitigation within a single, deploymentoriented CTI pipeline under explicit guarantee boundaries. We present a prototype workflow-level privacy orchestration for cyber threat intelligence that coordinates four mechanisms across the query-learn-update lifecycle: (i) Private Information Retrieval (PIR) to hide queried IoC indices, (ii) cross-silo federated learning (FL) to keep raw CTI data local, (iii) a formal client-level Differential Privacy (DP) mechanism for federated model training to protect against inversion and membership inference attacks, and (iv) practical privacy hardenings, namely fixed-shape PIR batching (a traffic-shaping mechanism, not a cryptographic PIR guarantee) and secure aggregation simulated under an honest-but-curious coordinator assumption, to mitigate residual side-channel leakage. The contribution is therefore one of CTI-specific workflow orchestration and systematic evaluation, not of new cryptographic primitives: formal (ε, δ) guarantees apply exclusively to the differentially private federated learning component, while the remaining mechanisms serve as deployment-oriented hardenings under stated assumptions. We implement a working prototype over a two-million-row AbuseIPDB-style IoC dataset. Under a two-server non-colluding assumption, PIR queries complete in approximately 40 seconds with 16MB transfer per fixed batch. Local Random Forest and Logistic Regression baselines reach 89.0% and 77.00% accuracy, respectively, while federated variants with DP-FedAvg (gradient clipping and RDP-based privacy accounting) demonstrate a quantified privacy–utility trade-off across multiple noise levels. A corrected canonical single-round (T=1) baseline establishes the reconciled reference operating point; reviewer-driven multi-round experiments (T ∈ {1, 10, 20}) and an auxiliary clip-norm sensitivity analysis (C ∈ {0.5, 1.0, 2.0}) further characterize how privacy budgets, model utility, and training stability evolve beyond the single-round setting, with all (ε, δ) values computed via RDP composition for the corresponding configuration. The framework aligns with recent advances in secure aggregation and privacy-preserving CTI analytics, and is designed to be compatible with GDPR, CCPA, ISO/IEC 27701, and NIST 800-53 privacy principles, demonstrating prototype-level feasibility for regulation-aware CTI collaboration across organizations.

Adaptive incident escalation in SOCs via AI-driven skill-aware assignment and tier optimization
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2026-04-15) Abuaziz, Ahmed; Çeliktaş, Barış
Modern Security Operations Centers (SOCs) face significant operational bottlenecks driven by escalating alert volumes, increasingly sophisticated cyberattack vectors, and chronic imbalances in analyst workloads. Conventional rule-based escalation models frequently fail to account for the multi-dimensional nature of incident characteristics, the nuances of analyst expertise, and fluctuating operational demands. This study proposes a comprehensive AI-driven framework for intelligent incident assignment and workload optimization. The framework introduces five primary contributions: 1) a multi-factor scoring model that integrates severity and complexity metrics with dynamic workload balancing; 2) two novel optimization algorithms, Quantile-Targeted Normality-Regularized Optimization (QT-NRO) and Joint Optimization of Weights and Thresholds (JOWT), to calibrate scoring coefficients against target analyst utilization; 3) a Large Language Model (LLM) engine leveraging Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) for semantic alignment between incident requirements and analyst expertise; 4) an Adaptive Capacity Zoning mechanism for dynamic workload management; and 5) a novel RAG Relevance Score metric—a pre-resolution, semantic alignment indicator that quantifies analyst-incident assignment quality independently of resolution time, addressing a fundamental limitation of traditional temporal metrics such as Mean Time to Resolution (MTTR) and providing a reusable benchmark applicable to any skill-aware assignment system. In addition, the framework incorporates a feedback-based continuous learning mechanism that utilizes historical resolution data to inform future assignments. An experimental evaluation using 10,021 real-world incidents from Microsoft Defender demonstrates that the JOWT algorithm achieves a tier distribution alignment within 0.8% of targets. LLM-enhanced semantic matching yields improvements between 26.7% and 126.8% in skill alignment across both normal-load and high-load evaluations, while simulations indicate a 31.8% reduction in MTTR. These results substantiate the efficacy of AI-driven methodologies in enhancing SOC operational efficiency and response precision.

The evolution of leadership theories and the role of transformational leadership in modern organizations
(Işık Üniversitesi Yayınları, 2026-04-29) Reyhan, Cem; Tuncay Çelikel, Aslı; Sarıca, Yeşim Pınar; Yılmaz, Kemal Özkan
This review paper examines recent studies on the evolution of leadership theories and highlights the importance of transformational leadership in modern organizations operating in volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) environments. Leadership has been widely studied in management literature, and its conceptualization has evolved from early trait-based approaches to behavioral and situational perspectives, and more recently to contemporary theories emphasizing the complex interactions between leaders, followers, and organizational contexts. The literature indicates that transformational leadership has emerged as one of the most influential leadership models in business research. It is widely recognized for motivating employees through the articulation of a shared vision, fostering innovation, and supporting individual development. In contrast to transactional leadership, which is based primarily on reward and performance exchanges, transformational leadership encourages employees to go beyond their individual interests and align with broader organizational goals. Based on an extensive review of 38 academic sources published between 1970 and 2025, this study synthesizes the theoretical development and organizational implications of transformational leadership. The findings suggest that transformational leadership has significant positive effects on key organizational outcomes, including motivation, creativity, teamwork, and organizational performance. It also plays a critical role in fostering adaptive organizational cultures and supporting innovation-oriented strategies in modern organizations.

The role of inner speech in modulating electrophysiological stress responses
(Işık Üniversitesi Yayınları, 2026-04-29) Kaleem, Zayna Syed; Küçük, Zeynep
The frequency and reliance on inner speech (IS) vary across individuals and may influence selfregulation processes such as emotion regulation and impulse control. This study examined whether IS frequency is associated with differences in emotion regulation, impulsive behavior, and physiological stress responses. The sample consisted of 35 university students aged 18–39. IS frequency was treated as a continuous predictor. Associations between IS frequency, self-report measures of emotion regulation and impulsivity, task performance (Stroop task), and physiological responses (heart rate (HR) and skin conductance level (SCL)) were analyzed using correlation, linear regression, and repeated-measures ANOVA. Results showed no significant associations between IS frequency and emotion regulation, impulsivity, Stroop task accuracy, or reaction times. A significant main effect of task condition on SCL was observed, with mental arithmetic eliciting higher electrodermal activity than baseline and Stroop conditions, confirming successful stress induction. However, regression analyses revealed no relationship between IS frequency and physiological responses across tasks. The only significant finding emerged at baseline: higher IS frequency predicted lower resting HR (β = −.48, p = .004, R² = .23). Overall, IS frequency did not substantially influence cognitive or physiological outcomes. Future research should use larger samples, counterbalanced designs, and alternative measures to better capture dynamic stress-related processes.

Does supply chain integration enhance humanitarian supply chain performance? an empirical investigation of operational outcomes
(Işık Üniversitesi Yayınları, 2026-04-29) Alaff, Monther; Karayaz, Gamze
Humanitarian supply chains (HSC) operate in high-uncertainty environments where speed and adaptability are critical, yet existing supply chain integration (SCI) models are primarily derived from commercial contexts. This creates a gap in understanding how integration affects performance in crisis operations. This study investigates the effect of SCI on HSC performance, focusing specifically on lead time and flexibility as two core performance dimensions. The research employs explanatory mixedmethod design. Quantitative data were collected through a survey of UN supply chain staff, while qualitative insights were obtained from executive interviews. Five integration constructs: beneficiary, supplier, government, partner, and internal integration, were operationalized and analyzed statistically. The results indicate all constraints significantly influence supply chain performance, yet beneficiary integration shows the strongest effect on both lead time and flexibility, while supplier, government, and partner integrations exert more limited effects. The findings provide a context-specific theory of humanitarian SCI, demonstrating that integration strategies must be tailored to crisis conditions rather than replicated from commercial models.

Automating cyber risk assessment with public LLMs: an expert-validated framework and comparative analysis
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2026-03-26) Ünal, Nezih Mahmut; Çeliktaş, Barış
Traditional cyber risk assessment methodologies face a critical dilemma: they are either quantitative yet static and context-agnostic (e.g., CVSS), or context-aware yet highly labor-intensive and subjective (e.g., NIST SP 800-30). Consequently, organizations struggle to scale risk assessment to match the pace of evolving threats. This paper presents an automated, context-aware risk assessment framework that leverages the reasoning capabilities of publicly available Large Language Models (LLMs) to operationalize expert knowledge. Rather than positioning the LLM as the final decision-maker, the framework decouples semantic interpretation from risk scoring authority through a transparent, deterministic Dynamic Metric Engine. Unlike complex closed box machine learning models, our approach anchors the AI's reasoning to this expert-validated metric schema, with weights derived using the Rank Order Centroid (ROC) method from a survey of 101 cybersecurity professionals. We evaluated the framework through a comparative study involving 15 diverse real-world vulnerability scenarios (C1-C15) and three supplementary sensitivity stress tests (C16-C18). The validation scenarios were independently assessed by a cohort of ten senior human experts and two state-of-the-art LLM agents (GPT-4o and Gemini 2.0 Flash). The results show that the LLM-driven agents achieve scoring consistency closely aligned with the human median (Pearson r ranging from 0.9390 to 0.9717, Spearman ρ from 0.8472 to 0.9276) against a highly reliable expert baseline (Cronbach's α =0.996), while reducing the assessment cycle time by more than 100× (averaging under 4 seconds per case vs. a human average of 6 minutes). Furthermore, a dedicated context sensitivity analysis (C13-C15) indicates that the framework adapts risk scores based on organizational context (e.g., SME vs. Critical Infrastructure) for identical technical vulnerabilities. Importantly, the system is designed not merely to replicate expert intuition, but to enforce bounded, policy-consistent risk evaluation under predefined governance constraints. Overall, these findings suggest that commercially available LLMs, when constrained by expert-validated metric schemas, can support reproducible, transparent, and real-time risk assessments.

From policy to practice: a sector-agnostic operational framework for post-quantum cryptography transition
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2026-03-02) Birgin, Berat; Çeliktaş, Barış
The pace of quantum computing development necessitates not only the adoption of post-quantum cryptographic algorithms, but also the establishment of an executable and auditable institutional transition process. Although guidance documents published by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and roadmaps proposed by the Post-Quantum Cryptography Coalition (PQCC) articulate strategic objectives, they largely remain procedural constructs lacking a concrete operational execution model. This paper presents an industry-neutral operational framework that translates policy-level post-quantum cryptography (PQC) guidance into deterministic, proof-producing process flows encompassing cryptographic asset discovery, classification, risk modeling, algorithm selection, deployment, monitoring, and governance enforcement. Central to the framework is a deterministic Quantum Risk Scoring (QRS) function, calibrated using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), which enables reproducible asset prioritization and policy-driven enforcement decisions. Framework executability is further strengthened through cryptography-aware continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) validation gates and downgrade protection mechanisms, ensuring the generation of verifiable and immutable audit artifacts. A scenario-based operational validation, implemented using open-source toolchains, demonstrates the framework’s operability, auditability, and governance alignment without relying on empirical cryptographic performance benchmarks, confirming that PQC transition can be operationalized as a verifiable lifecycle process bridging policy guidance with enforceable technical actions. Rather than introducing new cryptographic primitives, this work formalizes PQC transition as an operational systems-engineering problem centered on governance-enforced execution and lifecycle verifiability.

A framework study going toward green hospital
(Sağlık Bakanlığı Sağlık Hizmetleri Genel Müdürlüğü, 2026-03-18) Bolhasani, Mobina; Çepni, Selden
Environmental pollution from hospitals and healthcare facilities has become a critical concern globally, leading to the introduction of the Green Hospital concept. These facilities aim to mitigate the harmful environmental impacts of healthcare activities by implementing sustainable practices, including energy conservation, hazardous waste management, and green purchasing. This study examines the existing challenges and progress toward achieving the benchmarks of a Green Hospital. A twophase research approach was employed: (1) a comprehensive review of existing literature, databases, and studies to define the standards for Green Hospitals, and (2) interviews and questionnaires to gather insights from healthcare professionals involved in green initiatives. Results indicate that frameworks such as Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) and ISO 14000 play pivotal roles in setting sustainability criteria, prioritizing energy efficiency, waste management, and environmentally friendly procurement practices. This research underscores the importance of these standards in guiding hospitals toward greener operations and highlights the ongoing need for innovation to ensure both environmental sustainability and improved public health outcomes.

A multi-criteria evaluation of cybersecurity incident management frameworks: integrating AHP, CMMI and SWOT
(Karyay Karadeniz Yayımcılık Ve Organizasyon Ticaret Limited Şirketi, 2026-01-15) Ağar, Hasan Çağlar; Çeliktaş, Barış
With the growing complexity and frequency of cybersecurity incidents, the selection of an appropriate incident management framework has emerged as a strategic imperative and a nontrivial decision-making problem for organizations operating across diverse sectors. This study presents a multi-dimensional evaluation of four globally recognized frameworks and standards—ISO 27035, NIST 800-61, ITIL v4, and PCI DSS—to determine their effectiveness across 10 rigorously selected key performance parameters. The initial stage of the study involved the identification of 20 preliminary parameters through expert input and literature synthesis. These were then evaluated by 70 cybersecurity professionals using a hybrid decision-making model combining Likert scale scoring, standard deviation filtering, CV score, Z-score normalization and the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) for pairwise comparisons. The top 10 key parameters were derived based on calculated priority weights. To assess each framework, we applied the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) and visualized results via radar charts and heatmaps, offering comparative insights into operational maturity. Additionally, SWOT analysis was conducted to examine strategic positioning and identify opportunities for improvement. The outcomes not only provide a practical benchmarking guide for practitioners but also introduce a replicable, evidence-based methodology for academic and industry adoption. This work offers a novel and structured lens to evaluate incident management maturity, addressing the pressing need for strategic alignment, automation integration, and adaptive resilience in cybersecurity operations.

Psychometric properties of the emotional self-efficacy and prosocial behavior scales among Nigerian youths: a cross-cultural validation study
(Genç Bilge Yayıncılık, 2026-01-06) Akaiso, Emmanuel
This study examined the psychometric properties of the Emotional Self-Efficacy and Prosocial Behavior scales, originally developed in Italy, among Nigerian youths residing in urban and semi-urban contexts. A total of 108 participants completed measures assessing empathic ability, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication, alongside the Prosocial Tendencies Measure, which captures helping behaviors across anonymous, public, and emotionally salient situations. The findings demonstrated acceptable internal consistency across all scales, indicating satisfactory reliability within this cultural context. Descriptive analyses showed generally low levels of empathic and problem-solving selfefficacy, while interpersonal communication self-efficacy ranged from low to high. Correlational analyses revealed that empathic, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication self-efficacy were positively associated with prosocial behaviors, particularly in emotionally demanding contexts. Additionally, empathic and problemsolving self-efficacy were positively related to public prosocial actions. Overall, the findings provide preliminary evidence supporting the cross-cultural applicability of these instruments among Nigerian youths and highlight culturally relevant patterns in selfefficacy and prosocial functioning. The study contributes to the limited literature on psychological resources and prosocial development in Sub-Saharan Africa. Future research should employ larger and more diverse samples and explore the roles of resilience, personality traits, and value orientations in shaping prosocial behavior.

The mediating effect of self compassion in the relationship between job stress and burnout levels among employees
(SAGE Publications Inc., 2026-02-13) Günay, Ezgi; Ünver, Buket; Yılmaz, Simay
Objective: This study investigates the role of self-compassion as a mediator in the relationship between job stress and burnout among employees. While job stress is widely recognized as a critical factor leading to burnout, it has been suggested that self-compassion may be associated with a reduction in these negative effects. Method: Participants were 429 actively employed adults living in Turkey (50.6% female). The data were gathered using an online administration of standardized psychological scales, that is, Job Stressor Appraisal Scale, Copenhagen Burnout Scale, and Self-Compassion Scale. Four dimensions of work stress “Role and Workload, Role Inadequacy, Organizational Rules & Practices, and Subordinate Relations” are taken into consideration in the volumetric model. Path analysis with bootstrapping (5,000 resamples) was implemented using Mplus statistical software, with gender, economic condition, and way of working during COVID-19 as covariates. Findings: The model fit was acceptable in path analysis. Role and workload and role inadequacy had a significant direct impact on burnout. Self-compassion had a significant mediating impact on the relationship between role and workload and burnout and the relationship between role inadequacy and burnout. Conversely, for organizational rules and practices and subordinate relations, both direct and mediating effects were non-significant. The model accounted for 21% and 52% for variance in self-compassion and burnout, respectively. Conclusion: This study emphasises the mediating role of self-compassion in the effect of job stressors on burnout. These findings suggest that interventions promoting self-compassion in the workplace may be effective in reducing employee burnout.

Witnessing the end, supporting the living: A qualitative study of palliative caregiving in end-of-life patients in Türkiye
(Cambridge University Press, 2026-02-11) Sert Yurdakul, Selin; Erbay Erşen, Merve; Özel, Dilara
Objectives. Palliative care seeks to enhance the quality of life for individuals with serious illnesses and their families by addressing physical, emotional, and psychological needs. This phenomenological study examines the lived experiences of 8 caregivers in palliative care settings in Türkiye, focusing on the challenges they face, the coping mechanisms they employ, and their reflections on the caregiving role. Special emphasis is given to both psychological and somatic signs of stress, along with the possible advantages of body-oriented resilience techniques. Methods. Using a phenomenological qualitative design, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 8 caregivers providing care to relatives in a hospital-based palliative care unit. Data were collected between February and April 2023 and analyzed through conventional content analysis. Results. Four central themes emerged from inductive coding: harmony in healing, navigating difficulties, resilience in palliative care, and reflections on the finite. The findings reveal a dual reality: palliative caregivers derive meaning and satisfaction from compassionate connections, high-quality clinical care, and peer support, yet they also endure significant burdens, including emotional strain, physical exhaustion, disrupted daily routines, and shifting relational dynamics. Anticipatory grief and chronic stress responses were prevalent, frequently manifesting in both psychological and somatic forms (e.g., sleep disturbances, muscle tension, and autonomic arousal). Despite these challenges, palliative caregivers employed spiritual beliefs, peer interactions, and self-care routines as resilience strategies. Significance of results. The mind–body challenges identified in the study emphasize the need for interventions that focus on self-regulation and resilience, including body-oriented approaches that strengthen internal resources, regulate stress responses, and encourage adaptability. Incorporating such approaches into group-based settings may improve mutual support and enhance both individual and relational well-being. The study highlights the importance of comprehensive, caregiver-centered support systems to reduce burden and improve the overall quality of palliative care.

Polyvagal theory and interoception-based interventions: approaches to strengthen mental resilience
(Psikiyatride Güncel Yaklaşımlar, 2026) Candaş Demir, Merve Umay; Hasateş, Mahmut Can
Humans survive by establishing healthy bonds, and these bonds provide emotional regulation, especially in the caregiver-infant relationship. Polyvagal Theory suggests that the autonomic nervous system supports survival by assessing environmental and internal safety signals. Interoception plays a crucial role in this process, referring to the ability to sense the body's internal states. In recent years, interoception-based therapies have proven effective in the treatment of psychopathologies, especially post-traumatic stress disorder. Interoceptive-based interventions, such as trauma-informed yoga, can improve individuals who do not respond to traditional treatment by enhancing emotional regulation and body awareness. The aim of this study is to examine the effects of humanto-human relationships on mental health in the digitalized world, within the framework of Polyvagal Theory. In particular, it emphasizes the important role of interoception in the bond we establish with ourselves and its significance in psychotherapy. The study proposes an approach that supports mental health by discussing the therapeutic effects of interoception and the role of these skills in improving communication between individuals. The study also offers suggestions on how interoception-based interventions can be utilized in clinical practice. Such therapies help individuals form healthier bonds with both themselves and others.

Theta and Beta1 frequency band values predict dyslexia classification
(John Wiley and Sons Ltd, 2025-12-29) Eroğlu, Günet; Harb, Mhd Raja Abou
Dyslexia, impacting children's reading skills, prompts families to seek cost-effective neurofeedback therapy solutions. Utilising machine learning, we identified predictive factors for dyslexia classification. Employing advanced techniques, we gathered 14-channel Quantitative Electroencephalography (QEEG) data from 200 participants, achieving 99.6% dyslexic classification accuracy through cross-validation. During validation, 48% of dyslexic children's sessions were consistently classified as normal, with a 95% confidence interval of 47.31 to 48.68. Focusing on individuals consistently diagnosed with dyslexia during therapy, we found that dyslexic individuals exhibited higher theta values and lower beta1 values compared to typically developing children. This study pioneers machine learning in predicting dyslexia classification factors, offering valuable insights for families considering neurofeedback therapy investment.
